Workers Return-to-Office

Since the start of the year, we at Point-To-Point have engaged in hundreds of face-to-face conversations across the country—with executives, with market leaders, with content creators, with on-air talent. These weren’t just meetings. They were meaningful moments of connection, where hopes, fears, frustrations, and ambitions were shared directly and honestly. From the Country Radio Seminar, the RAB, and Podcast Evolutions to countless market visits, the NAB, and next week’s Barrett Sports Media Summit, we don’t just show up— we sit across from the people shaping the future of this business. And in every handshake, hallway chat, and post-panel debrief, one thing is abundantly clear: this industry doesn’t just need leaders. It needs visionaries.

It’s easy to say the ad landscape is challenging or that dollars aren’t flowing like they used to. But those who lead with purpose and vision—those who see around corners and inspire teams to do more with what they have—are the ones who will carry this industry into the next decade. At a recent luncheon, Susan Bacich and I found ourselves seated next to one of the most respected leaders in our field. I offered a sympathetic “Things are tough.” Without hesitation, he replied: “If it was easy, anyone could do it.” For the next half hour, he laid out all the ways this industry still has a competitive edge—how it uplifts clients, serves communities, and drives connection in ways no algorithm ever could.

His optimism led me to once again review the traits that make an effective leader, traits that are needed more than ever at this evolving time in our industry.

The Leadership Circle: Measuring the Leaders Who Move Us Forward

At the heart of every thriving organization is a leader whose impact extends beyond strategy or skill—they are driven by a deep internal compass. The Leadership Circle Profile offers a unique lens into this balance. It’s the first leadership assessment that evaluates both competency and inner capacity, providing a comprehensive snapshot of how leaders think, relate, and drive results.

Unlike other tools that simply list skills, the Leadership Circle is organized into an elegant system that maps behavior to personal development. Leaders receive feedback across 18 competencies, all of which have been validated as essential to effective leadership. These competencies not only reflect how leaders see themselves, but also how they compare to peers in their field.

Purposeful & Visionary Leadership: Three Defining Questions

At the center of those 18 competencies is Purposeful & Visionary, which asks:

  1. Do you clearly and consistently communicate a compelling vision of the future?

  2. Do you inspire others with a deep sense of purpose and optimism?

  3. Do you foster shared ownership by helping others develop and align with a common vision?

Leaders who score high in this area don’t just talk about the future—they build it. They align teams, energize their organizations, and lead with unwavering belief in what’s possible. They’re not reactive. They’re proactive creators of change, deeply rooted in core values but always scanning the horizon for what’s next.

These are leaders who:

  • Live and work with purpose

  • Stay motivated in the face of obstacles

  • Create cultures of creativity and shared accountability

  • Inspire belief in what’s possible—even when it’s hard

Why Purposeful & Visionary Leadership Matters Now More Than Ever

For the radio, audio, and podcasting industry, leaders with a high Purposeful & Visionary score aren’t a luxury—they’re a necessity. They’re the ones who will help advertisers believe in the value of sound again. They’re the ones who keep teams inspired when budgets get tight. They’re the ones who create listener experiences that resonate deeply and drive real loyalty.

And these are the people we’re proud to work alongside every day.

At Point-To-Point Marketing, we don’t just manage campaigns—we align with leaders who have a bold, forward-thinking view of what radio and audio can be. Whether it’s growing podcast audiences, filling venues, or boosting streaming and Nielsen ratings, our best work happens when paired with clients who live and lead with purpose.

This is more than marketing. It’s movement-making. And in 2025 and beyond, the industry will belong to those who see what’s possible and are relentless in bringing it to life.

What is your purpose? What is your vision?

Would love to discuss it with you and make it a reality.
